When replacing an old traditional PBX system with a new VoIP IPPBX system, system integrators are challenged to get legacy analog security door locks, outside ring down phones, and overhead paging systems interoperate with a new VoIP solution. Typically this would be attempted with a few ATAs, several hours of frustration, and a couple trips to the local RadioShack. If you were lucky, someone left the documentation and wireing schematics in the switch room. Most likely not, and who ever got the thing working many years ago is long gone.
Getting the old Door Lock Buzzer to open from the receptionists new IP phone, or to call the overhead speakers in the warehouse, you will quickly find, are critical to your customers business and will have to work on the new IP PBX system before they will consider the system installed. The Pantel IP door phone and Pancode IP door phones provide full duplex telephone communication through hands-free operation and control door opening via touch-tone telephones. The door phones enable authorized visitors to enter a 4-digit access code to unlock the entrance door. A direct extension can be also dialed upon arrival. The system includes as an option a color video camera. These phones have been designed for indoor and outdoor use.
ABP has been using our ITS Pancode IP door phone for the past two years and we are now secure and in the know of who has just arrived and entered our front door. When visitors arrive and press the Call button on the Pancode IP Door Phone the call rings several phones in the office. Anyone who answers the call can confirm who is requesting to enter and buzz the door lock relay to open the door by pressing 8 on the keypad. Now imagine, your at home and the delivery man is at the back door at your office. He presses the call button and your IP phone at home rings, you answer the call, confirm who he is and press 8 on your phones keypad, or whatever key you want, to unlock the door and let him in to deliver the important package. Try doing that with you old PBX.
The ITS access control IP phones come in two versions with the primary difference being the Pancode IP has a full keypad and allows up to 10 access key codes to be entered at the door phone to unlock the door relay. The Pantel IP has a call button and requires someone to answer the call and press a DTMF key on their phone to open the door.The phones can be purchased with an optional Video camera and can be integrated with a security card reader.
The phones come with a GUI management interface and support PoE which makes them easy to install and manage just like all the other IP phones and devices on the IP network. The ability to manage the phones from the IP network is critical and frankly kept ABP from actively marketing the phone last year because the initial release required a USB serial cable to program the phone.
